Is QR Code actually the future of the barcode?

It's quite hard to say, especially because it QR code is starting much later then the barcode.
Starting now means have different features. Infact the qr-code is developed especially for mobile and internet applications.

What are the benefits?
It's much more flexible: it can contain both alphanumeric characters (over 4.000) and hyperlinks (web links, email, etc.).

Thanks to this technology developed by Denso, Japanese company which created the qr-code for Toyota, we can imagine infinite applications.
For example, last week I bought a National Geographic documentary DVD, and on the cover there's a qr-code linked to a video. So I managed to see a preview before buying the DVD.
But the uses can be the variest: managing a warehouse, a presentation, a guide,etc.

What we ha dto do it was to integrate this technology into our CMS, to make the product catalogues and webpages management as complete as possible.
